Greetings!

I am new to Citizendium as of May 2007.

I am a 1982 graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy where I received a Bachelor of Science degree in Aeronautical Engineering. My Master of Science degree is in Computer Science from the University of West Florida (1997).

All things Computer

I have actively worked with computer-based technologies throughout my career. I've built software systems for the Air Force, NASA and my personal use. I have written programs in many programming languages but I'm fond of Java for many types of applications. My primary research interests are centered on developing systems that are more intelligent and more aware of their environment to enable complex adaptive, reactive, and autonomous behaviors.

Professional Experience

Graduated from pilot training in 1983. Flying assignments included the T-38 and F-15. Graduated from the USAF Test Pilot School in 1993 with a follow on assignment as experimental test pilot. I have been lucky enough to get over 3,000 pilot-in-command hours in 31 different types of aircraft including the F-15A/B/C/D/E, T-38, F-16A/B, T-37, H-58, H-60, C-141, T-28, Mig-15, YAK-41, and over 20 other aircraft types.

Worked in the Air Force Research Laboratory. Participated in research, managed teams of research scientists and engineers, and advised the Air Force on it's aeronautical technology portfolio.

Now a partner in a start up company in Dayton, Ohio. I consult on scientific research areas and hope to make useful adaptive and autonomous systems. One system we'll work on first will be smarter stop lights that understand when no other cars are around.  :)
