Oh, come, now!

What's a party without The other Derek???. Please add yourself to the cast of characters at July party Aleta Curry 20:51, 2 July 2008 (CDT)

Very keen to see what you have on Asimov. Thomas Simmons 07:14, 16 November 2008 (UTC)

Especially any relationship between Foundation Encyclopedias and Citizendium Foundations? :-)

links from "McGuffey Readers"

When I am not logged in to CZ and call up the McGuffey Readers article, the links to the Bibliography and External links subpages do not indicate there is any content. Clicking on them brings up the edit page with the content in the edit box. From there, I can go to the actual page. When I am logged in, the links on the article page are blue, indicating there is content. What gives? James F. Perry 00:13, 20 March 2009 (UTC)

Battle of Hastings

OK, this is silly.

There is an ...odd... group of medieval reenactors, the Maryland Markland Mercenary Militia, which redoes the Battle of Hastings every year, near the University of Maryland. The home team always loses.

Nevertheless, before the battle begins, the safety marshals draw together all sides for the chant:

  • What are the areas on the ground marked with white chalk?
    • The horse lanes, Sir!
  • And where don't we dramatically die?
    • We don't die in the horse lanes!

Citizendium charter drafting commitee nomination

Hi Derek, You've been nominated to be a candidate for election to the Citizendium charter drafting committee.

If you haven't been following the discussion in the forums, we're getting ready to establish a charter for Citizendium that outlines the project's goals, ideals, and basic structure. To get the process moving, we put together a plan for electing a group of Citizens to compose a draft of the charter, which will then be submitted for community review. You can find more about the plan here.

You've been nominated to be a candidate for election to that committee. The next step is up to you: you may either accept or decline the nomination by going here and following the instructions at the top of the page.

If you have any questions, just let any of those who accepted know. James F. Perry 04:54, 30 September 2009 (UTC)

Your email

Derek, just wanted to let you know that your email is not working (at least all our voting confirmations were returned). Thanks,D. Matt Innis 17:41, 18 October 2010 (UTC)

Maybe I missed something

I did a check for this word: polygyny and the way you spelled it was not in the Merrian Webster dictionary unless my old eyes missed something. Perhaps you would like to take another look in case I missed something.Mary Ash 01:22, 19 October 2010 (UTC)

Going cold turkey

Hi, Derek, could you take a look at: http://en.citizendium.org/wiki/Talk:Roast_turkey#What_do_we_do_now_with_the_turkey_recipes.3F__Asking_for_opinions_and_thoughts.... and offer your considered opinion when you have a moment? Many thanks! Hayford Peirce 22:04, 19 October 2010 (UTC)

The Penguin Book of Comedy Sketches

Sounds like a book I need! Thanks, Derek! Aleta Curry 03:00, 24 October 2010 (UTC)

Hmmm...is that multilevel penguinism, as in comic sketches by or for penguins (bird) by Penguin (publisher)? Penguins armed with the Kongsberg Penguin missile? Howard C. Berkowitz 03:16, 24 October 2010 (UTC)

Have fun with Stan!

It looks like both you and Hayford are working on the Stan Freberg article so go for it! Nice to see wiki collaboration in action. Leaving the same message for Hayford too. BTW Freberg is one of my fav comedians and his advertising material was used as a case study for my copy writing class in college. Mary Ash 00:47, 7 March 2011 (UTC)

Thanks for reference formatting assistance on Sirius

Derek,

Thanks for your help. I wrote both my articles on the fly and your help standardizing the reference citations was a godsend. It's a hectic time for me and I'm trying to make CZ contributions on the fly for now.

Sincerely, Gary Leonard Cameron 23:27, 1 May 2012 (UTC)

Spenser

I realised I had not put in the links on this article I started, went to do it, and found you had done it already. Fast. --Martin Wyatt 19:54, 21 September 2012 (UTC)

Possible nomination

Thank you for your suggestion. As a very new contributor, I think I had better get used to the system first. --Martin Wyatt 10:46, 4 December 2012 (UTC)

December 2012 elections

Would you be interested in being an author member of the Editorial Council? You can say no, of course, but so far we've only two nominees for the council, and they're both editors.-Derek Hodges 07:34, 4 December 2012 (UTC)

Hi Derek, I appreciate the invitation but the time I have to devote to CZ is very limited and I have set myself a fairly daunting goal in terms of article development with respect to the California missions. Perhaps at some future date? Good luck. Robert A. Estremo 15:59, 10 December 2012 (UTC)

Nominations for Management and Editorial Councils

You have been nominated for seats on both the Management and Editorial Councils in the July-August Special Election. The nominator was myself. To accept or decline these nominations, please visit the Nominations page here (for the Management Council seat) and here (for the Editorial Council Author seat) by midnight UTC on July 27th. You may write an election statement for each if you wish (linked from the Nominations page).

The Management Council seat runs until June 30th, 2014 or June 30th, 2015 (the successful candidate with the fewest votes receiving the shorter term) and the Editorial Council seat expires on December 31st, 2013. In the event that Referendum 1 is passed, all seats will expire on June 30th, 2014. Thanks! John Stephenson 17:09, 22 July 2013 (UTC)
