Welcome Page

Welcome, new editor! We're very glad you've joined us. Here are pointers for a quick start. Also, when you get a chance, please read The Editor Role. You can look at Getting Started for other helpful introductory pages. It is essential for you as an editor to join the Citizendium-Editors (broadcast) mailing list in order to stay abreast of editor-related issues. If you wish, just ask me to create a "personal sandbox" for you where you can test out editing and writing articles. If you need help to get going, it is a good idea to join our discussion forums. That's where we discuss policy, proposals or technical problems. You can ask any constable for help, too. Just put a note on their "talk" page. Again, welcome and thank you! We appreciate your willingness to share your expertise, and we hope to see you begin actively editing and contributing to Citizendium. Milton Beychok 22:28, 30 July 2010 (UTC)

A personal welcome

I just want to extend my warm welcome to you as an Astronomy and Military editor as well as an author in a number of different workgroups. I am an Engineering and Chemistry Editor and, although I am a WW2 veteran (100th Infantry Division), I don't consider myself a military expert by any stretch of imagination. If I can be of any help to you, please let me know. Milton Beychok 06:06, 30 July 2010 (UTC)

You are incredibly welcome, as I've been the only Military Editor for some time. I'd certainly welcome collaboration on C3I-ISR, which, as I remember, was thrown together to support another article, and combines both the multitude of acronyms as well as being a top-level article on a variety of aircraft types. We might want to review the command and control article as well as the wide range of things starting with intelligence cycle management -> intelligence collection management/intelligence analysis management -> SIGINT and MASINT -> specific platforms.
I emphasize some of these grew to fill needs over time and may well have deficiencies in coverage. Splitting and merging articles certainly can be possible. Howard C. Berkowitz 10:27, 30 July 2010 (UTC)
Welcome to Citizendium! Our areas of interest are very different, but feel free to let me know if you are having any problems using the system and I shall try to be of help. --Chris Key 16:24, 30 July 2010 (UTC)
A big welcome! I hope you will get time for some astronomy as well - there's a lot that needs to be done in that area. Ro Thorpe 17:49, 30 July 2010 (UTC)

Would appreciate your input on a Jupiter question

Hi Paul. We've had a query from a reader about Jupiter and would value your input as an astronomy Editor. The discussions are on the forum just here. Unfortunately to post on the forums require you to register separately there, however it should be much more simple than the registration you have gone through to join the wiki. --Chris Key 19:15, 30 July 2010 (UTC)

Questionnaire

You may have been too busy to deal with the questionnaire that we sent to you (by e mail ) last Tuesday - or you may not wish to complete it . Either way, it would help us to plan our work if you would indicate below whether you intend to complete it.

There is a copy of the questionnaire at user:Nick_Gardner_/Sandbox

Returning to Citizendium: an update on the project and how to get involved

Hello - some time ago you became part of the Citizendium project, but we haven't seen you around for a while. Perhaps you'd like to update your public biography or check on the progress of any pages you've edited so far.

Citizendium now has over 16,000 articles, with more than 150 approved by specialist Editors such as yourself, but our contributor numbers require a boost. We have an initiative called 'Eduzendium' that brings in students enrolled on university courses to write articles for credit, but we still need more Editors across the community to write, discuss and approve material. There are some developed Astronomy and Military articles that could be improved and approved, plus some high-priority Natural Sciences and Military articles that we don't have yet. You can also create new articles via this guide, and contribute to some Astronomy or Military pages that have been recently edited here and here - or to any others on Citizendium, since you're a general Author as well as a specialist Editor. You may like to contribute to discussions in the forums, and might consider running for an elected position on the Management and Editorial Councils that oversee the project.

If you have any questions, let me know via my Talk page or by leaving a message below this one. Thank you for signing up and reading this update; I hope that you will look in on our community soon. John Stephenson 06:44, 30 October 2011 (UTC)
