Added some fundamentals to the chemistry pages as it was not clear that contrary to physics chemistry deals only with the interactions between electrons or physical forces with electron(s).

The Human Skeletal System

What do you mean by this comment on my discussion page? What does "nowiki'd" mean? I am new here:

It was never my intention to create a disconnected page in isolation. Yes, the human skeletal system is a subset of human anatomy, which wiki page I created because it didn't exist. Human anatomy is a subset of Anatomy, which page I also created. Anatomy is a subset of Morphology, which page I also created. If you go to the Biology page now, you will find that, if you click on the Anatomy link, it will lead you now through anatomy and human anatomy to skeletal anatomy. You have to understand that pages don't just appear full grown. They have to be built up and, in a lot of cases the basic structure isn't even there yet. So, if you've done something that will make my hard work disappear, please undo it now.

bio

I received a masters in physical chemistry and biochemistry in 1982 from the free university of amsterdam and was awarded a doctorate at the leiden university in physical chemistry on a study on the dynamic behavior of partially charged polyelectrolytes in a bad solvent in the very diluted regime.

After that I did quite some research for privately held companies that didn't allow publication of the researches executed. Slowly moving away from chemictry toward process automation and interactions with databases I became more and more interested with the concept of active databasemanagement in laborotory situations - extending towards office automation and distributed computer problems.

Nowadays I lecture at the holland highschool (college) as well at the the hague highschool. Other projects involve knowledge management problems and semantics within computer sciences as well as cryptography problems.

In the Computer Science part only Relational Databases are mentioned, not flat file databases, record structure databases or Hierarchical databases. Is this on purpose?

the Status and the nature of wiki's

I wonder what we want the nature and status of CZ to be: neutral in all its content or colored based upon culture, politics or personal opinions. So far the latter leads only to more biased reproductions of facts - nearly all mingled with personal opinions and trying to bring personal thoughts as being factual. As an example: whether or not anyone is for the death penalty. That is an opinion, not something accepted in many countries. In most if not all european countries talking about the capital punishment is allowed - sure why not, but impossible to implement due to constitutions. And rightfully so - any culture claiming to be of high moral value should ask that same question: does it show any high level of ethics to maintain the capital punishment or does it show the old rule of an eye for an eye. As Mahatma Ghandi said: an eye for an eye makes the world blind.

Cycles Research

Robert, thanks for the welcome. My interest in joining citizendium is cycles research which is an interdisciplinary field covering all manner of subjects - economics, biology, geology, astronomy, physics, history, etc etc. Therefore it doesn't sit neatly in the scheme of subjects unless added in its own right (which I generally find people object to). Any suggestions are welcome. I consider myself an expert in cycles research with a smattering of knowledge in many other fields. I would like to be an Author and Editor regarding cycles subjects. Speedydelete template

No, I was using that template to attempt to mark for the constables pages that had been created by the vandals. I was blanking and reverting as fast as I could, and leaving that in pages that (obviously) had no business being on Citizendium. The vandals never used that. Thanks very much for helping when my user page was vandalised yesterday. One small quibble, though. After my user page was moved to an offensive title, someone restored the old content at the correct page, and then you deleted the page at the offensive title. However, this destroyed the edit history of that page (since the page you deleted was actually the original user page, just moved to a different location). Now, in this instance, it's not really a problem, because there's nothing of importance in the history. Long term, I may work on some of the Astronomy articles related in particular to the Renaissance period (Copernicus to Newton). Warning on blocking Users

Hi Rob,

The only problem I can think of, is that perhaps you blocked this user and did not "uncheck" the box, "Prevent account creation." If you leave this checked, anyone with the same IP address, can not set up a new account, like Jeff Cook. How do you fix this? Perhaps, you have to unblock him and then reblock him, with "prevent account creation" unchecked. You do not want to do this to a User who created an account with a badly formed name, say. Hi Robert, what a pain, hopefully they'll grow up soon. For future reference, don't delete the users immediately. For example, your deletion here:

took the RNA interference edit history with it too. It was a sophisated switch-a-roo which means the current RNA interference page has vandalism in the page and I cannot revert back to the last good version. I believe this might even be their strategy. The best strategy to beat these vandals is to block them but only delete once the moves have been undone. I noticed several other instance where the edit history and in some cases the content was deleted too.

By the way, one more suggestion to speed things along. If you move the aticle page first the talk page goes along for the ride. Vertebral subluxation and attacks on my user page.

I regard Chiropractic as a discipline of massage. I do not regard it as a medically valid diagnostic system. I posted to Larry about this. Chiropractic is not to be regarded as medically valid; it's folk medicine. My user pages have been subsequently attacked. Re: Canada

Yes, I think that it was neccessary. It was lifted directly from Wikipedia, and was much too long according to both Wikipedia and Citizendium's guidelines. If people want to put parts of the Wikipedia article in Canada, of course I have no objection, but I think that keeping it all in is not productive and makes creating a clearly written article that much more confusing. Well, I can't answer the second question, but the name is not that "funny" (as a typical Lithuanian one). It coincides with the name of a PhD student of neurobiology at the International School for Advanced Studies [1]. Restoring the account and leaving a request for a bio, wouldn't it be a better solution? (sorry for this little investigation, I couldn't resist. Physics group Top article

Let me know if you want the articles recently removed from the Top group restored there. I can also go through the remaining 13 articles in that Top group and remove the interwiki links which needs to be done anyway. I still favor the deletion of any non-Top article which has not been worked on since mid-November when the CZ pilot wiki started. Only non-Top articles and only the ones not worked on since. James F. Image deletion

I uploaded an image with an apparent copyright violation on the Chiropractic page [3]. I deleted the image to avoid further viewing, but the article has already been approved so I think that the article needs to be updated as well. Check out how Chris has revolutionized the workgroups! I've been wondering how to do this for a very long time but had no idea how to pull it off. I created a Template:stub, since none existed, as follows:

The stub was probably put here to create a hierachy to form a path between the page above and below this one.

This means that, when one adds the phrase "stub" enclosed by double braces on a page, the above phrase will appear in its stead. I notice that some people have been adding phrases like "fish-stub" to their pages. I don't think this is appropriate. A stub, is a stub, is a stub, no matter what your page is about..

I think there may be confusion here. I suggested to Matt that it was OK to delete the article. The only reason i brought it to citizendium was to link from the copyright templates (Category:License tags). However, we are still not clear which templates we will need and rather than link to this page it may be better to link to FSF external site. The protection confusion is due to the fact we protected the GNU_Free_Documentation_License page. There is no need to protect the FSF article if we decide it is useful. An example is electrostatic shielding of charges on partially charged polyelectrolytes by hydrophobic, non-polar functional groups, where the charges on the macromolecule respond to each other over smaller distances than normal, thereby reducing the charge-driven repulsion between charged parts of the molecule. For each individual charge, the other charges seem to be farther away because this shielding reduces their effect.

Well, my point was - as discussed on the forum -- that there is no more "top" category for many workgroups, math now included (e.g. this category is no more featured on WG main page). So I doubt if keeping "top" would give it any priority in math. On the other hand, we have just forged a new structure -- or "attack plan" -- based on math subject classification; David is actually working on it and we shall see it very soon.

About the TOP articles, as far as I know some groups arent ready yet to get on with that - if they actually exist. So I am reluctant there Robert Tito | Talk

Rob, I started a stub on Silicone. As I've been reading about implants for the cosmetic surgery stuff, I have come across this fascinating history of silicone for use in cosmetic surgery. The article I'm starting has a broader, more encyclopedic outlook. I was hoping I could convince you to write a section in that article about the different physical forms of silicone, and how its properties underly those forms.
