The International Baccalaureate (IB) is the term used for a group of three different programmes offered by the International Baccalaureate Organisation:

  • Primary Years Programme (Ages 3-12)
  • Middle Years Programme (Ages 11-16)
  • Diploma Programme (Ages 16-19)

The organization's self-defined mission is to "to create a better world through education." It seeks to accomplish this through the promotion of intercultural understanding and a curriculum that challenges students to apply themselves at an advanced level.

Especially in areas where the Primary and Middle Years programs are not offered, International Baccalaureate is also used to refer specifically to the Diploma Programme, however this is not correct usage.
